Comentan que en el pasado todas las señoras daban luz en su casa y después del parto les hacían baños de tema:skal para evitar cualquier recaída. Los señores sabían cómo construir el tema:skal y que materiales debían usar. Primero, se consiguen unas varas, ganchos y el tipo de piedra llamada texkaltet (resistente al calor). Para tapar el tema:skal se puede usar hojas de plátano morado, hojas de cola de pescado (michkwitapi:l, (R.E.Schult.) Harling) o el tema:skalpesma (pendiente identificación). El peto:lmekat (pendiente identificación) y te:sakakemat (tallo de Philodendron spp.) se usan para amarrar los palos y las hojas. Antes de empezar el tema:skal se limpia el lugar donde se va a construir. Primero se excava ligeramente y se apilan los texkaltet en forma circular donde va a ser el tixi:k (literalmente 'ombligo del fuego'). No se puede usar otro tipo de piedra porque las demás piedras empiezan a tronar cuando se calientan con el fuego. Pero el texkaltet se prende y toma el color de las brasas. Después de limpiar y excavar el terreno, se ponen las varas y se empieza a amarrar uno por uno. Después se tapa el tema:skal con hojas de plátano. Las hojas se colocan encimadas para que quede bien cerrado el baño de vapor y no permite que el calor salga. Las hojas se amarran por encima del armazón con peto:lmekat o te:sakamekat. Así queden aseguradas y no se muevan en el momento de prender el fuego por dentro. El tema:skal se hace de forma semi-esférica. Arriba se van amarrando las varas en forma de arco. Hacia el suelo como a 20 cm. del suelo se coloca unas varas horizontales y van alrededor del tema:skal para reforzarlo. También se cortan unos palos con gancho de cómo 25 a 30 cm. de largo. Estas varas se empotran en el suelo y por su gancho jalan a la vara horizontal para mantenerla en su lugar. Las varas que forman la construcción semi-esférica se amarran a esta vara horizontal. Para aumentar el calor por dentro, encima del tema:skal se extienden cobijas para mantener el calor adentro. Se le ponen dos puertas pequeñas, una para poder meter la leña antes de prender el horno; la otra es donde entra el paciente que se va a bañar. Cuando ya está terminado se prende la leña y poco a poco vayan calentándose los texkaltet. Se espera hasta que agarren el color de las brasas y cuando ya llegaron a este punto, se mete la señora que administra el baño de vapor. Por lo regular se meten dos personas para auxiliar; la responsable es la partera. Adentro del tema:skal se colocan unas hojas (no dice que tipo) como tapete para que ahí se acueste la paciente y la partera. También se coloca una olla con agua fría y unas ramas de xopilxiwit (esto es, las ramas del xopilkowit: Trichilia havanensis Jacq.). Cuando ya están adentro, la partera empieza a echarle agua a los texkaltet para que se levante el vapor y aumente el calor. Con las ramas de xopilxiwit le pegan a la paciente en todo su cuerpo para que le llegue el vapor y empiece a sudar. Cuando el paciente sale del tema:skal, es importante que se abrigue bien y se acueste nuevamente para que no le pegue el aire.
