Para hacer hilo usaba un palito llamado malakat, que tenía una rueda por la parte inferior. A ése palito se le ponía algodón y la tejedora lo hacía girar con las manos. Al girar, se iba formando en hilo de algodón que se ibas torciendo. Después de haber hecho hilos, ella hacía bolsas que le llamaban palte:l (talega) o pilma:mal (rebozo para cargar niños). Usaba dos hilos con diferente color que sacaba del algodón. Uno, que tenía color como de chocolate se llamaba koyo:ichkat. El otro era de color blanco. El palte:l y el pilma:mal que tejía no tenía que teñir porque el mismo algodón tenía los colores naturales. Al terminar de hacer el tejido, lavaba el palte:l y el pilma:mal con tequesquite o ceniza para que no se despintara. Para lavar echaba agua en una cubeta y se le agregaba tequesquite o ceniza. Se esperaba hasta que se asentara la ceniza o el tequesquite y después lavaba las prendas con jabón y las mojaba con el agua de tequesquite. Antes se cultivaba algodón en las comunidades, algunas personas sembraban semillas junto a sus casas. Una mata de algodón crecía igual al tamaño de una mata de café. Actualmente ya nadie siembra algodón y los jóvenes ya ni lo conocen. Vázquez también hacía huipiles, usaba hilo blanco que compraba por madejas en la tienda. Antes de empezar a tejer cortaba el hilo de acuerdo a las medidas que necesitaba. Para medir el largo de los huipiles usaba el codo, la mujer que tenía el codo largo usaba sólo un codo. Si una mujer tenía el codo corto, usaba su codo para medir pero le agregaba dos dedos para que el huipil no saliera ni muy chico, ni muy grande. Más antes las mujeres usaban huipil de manta, compraban la manta en la tienda y cosían el huipil a mano. Vázquez aprendió a tejer pilma:mal, palte:l y huipiles después de casarse. Todos los tejidos que hacía le enseñó a hacer su suegra.
